From Punk to Funk: Benefit for Matthew Leone of Madina Lake

This benefit is to help support Matthew Leone, the bassist of the internationally known punk band, Madina Lake, who got hospitalized after he intervened with a domestic dispute. He noticed a guy beating a girl on the street, called 911, and heroically stepped in. After he stopped the guy and began to walk to his destination, the guy attacked him from behind and Matt was left unconscious on the street. Luckily, the pol...ice showed up quickly and Matt was rushed to the hospital suffering head and body injuries. His road to recovery is going to be long and hard, but with the out pouring of love and support from his friends, the ride will be a positive one!

Matthew has been a professional musician for a number of years. He had medical insurance that expired just before this incident occurred so his medical bills are going to be expensive and he needs our help! The benefit From Punk 2 Funk will aide in helping Matthew pay off his medical bills and will be a celebration of his heroism!

What to expect: 18+/Doors at 6pm. Reggie's is kindly offering a free buffet of appetizers from their gourmet kitchen staff from 6-8pm. Music will begin at 7pm and go all night long w/ DJ sets in between to keep the night going. The bands: Liquid Soul, The P1-Move, Just Infinite, Fifth World, and Dirty MF and the Smokin' Sextion. More bands will be announced as they get confirmed. Ticket price is $20 in advance and $25 at the door. A link to purchase tickets can be found at www.frompunktofunk.com. A link for the website is below in the comments section.

So, I am calling on all of Matthew's friends and fans in the Chicagoland area to come on through and show your support for a true hero and one hell of a bassist! If you know Matt, whether from grade school to high school, friend of the family or fan of his music, you know what an upstanding person and all around great guy he is, then come out to Reggie's on August 17th and support this wonderful cause!

On behalf of Matthew, the Leone's, and myself, I just want to say how grateful Matthew is to have such wonderful friends and fans. Through thick and thin you have proven that you will be there for him.

Thank you all so very much,
Greg Firak
